WHAT IS THE THEME?
This contest invites you to delve into the soul of Vietnam’s people through the art of portraits, centered around the special theme of “Faces of Vietnam.” Whether it’s the timeworn face of an elderly street vendor, the joyous smile of a young child, or the intense gaze of a skilled artisan, every photograph submitted should touch on the rich narratives and depth of human experience found among Vietnam’s population.
WHAT IS THE PRIZE?
You have the opportunity to win exciting prizes that further support your passion for photography. The prizes include:
- First prize – Gift card for photography gear from B and H worth $150 USD
- Second prize – 1.5 hour Online Portfolio Review with a Vietnam in Focus photographer worth $90 USD
- All finalists will have their work published on our website and promoted on our social media pages
HOW CAN I ENTER?
- This is a FREE contest.
- To enter, please submit your work through the button below.
- The submission period begins on August 1st 2023 and ends on November 1st 2023.
- The winner will be announced on December 1st 2023, with prizes sent in time for Christmas.
Photography has an incredible power to transcend language and culture, providing a universal means of storytelling. With the “Faces of Vietnam” contest, we hope to encourage past visitors to share their images of Vietnam’s people, fostering a deeper understanding and appreciation for their stories and lives. SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
ELIGIBILITY
The photography contest is open to photographers of all skill levels, both amateur and professional.
Participants must be resident outside Vietnam. Prizes will be sent by post.
Participants must be at least 18 years old or of legal age in their respective country of residence.
THEME AND SUBJECT
The contest revolves around the theme of “Faces of Vietnam.”
Submissions should demonstrate creativity, humanity, and a strong connection to the chosen theme.
SUBMISSION FORMAT
Only digital entries will be accepted.
Each participant may submit a maximum of one (1) photograph.
Images must be in JPEG or PNG format with a maximum resolution of 3000 pixels on the longest side.
File sizes should not exceed 2MB per image.
No watermarks or borders should be present on the photograph.
HOW TO SUBMIT
Submissions must be made through Google Form at the provided link here
Complete the online submission form, providing accurate and relevant information.
Upload your high-resolution photographs as separate files, clearly labeled with the image titles.
Include a brief description for each photograph, sharing the story or inspiration behind the image.
COPYRIGHT AND USAGE
Each participant is the sole owner and author of their photograph.
Each Entry does not infringe upon the copyrights, trademarks, contract rights, or any other intellectual property rights of any third person or entity, or violate any person’s rights of privacy or publicity…
The use of any AI-based generating or editing tools and filters for enhancing and altering the photograph is prohibited. Editing should only be limited to basic adjustments like brightness, contrast, and cropping using standard photo editing software.
By participating in the contest, participants retain the rights to their photographs.
However, participants grant the contest organizers a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to use the submitted images for promotional purposes, including online galleries, social media, and promotional materials related to the contest, while giving proper credit to the photographers.
DEADLINE
The submission deadline for the contest is November 1st 2024 at Midnight Indochina Time.
Late entries will not be accepted.
JUDGING AND RESULT
A panel of experienced judges from the Vietnam in Focus team will evaluate the entries based on creativity, composition, technical skill, adherence to the theme, and overall impact.
The decision of the judges will be final and cannot be appealed.
Winners will be notified via email and announced on the contest website and official social media channels on December 1st 2023.
PRIZES
Prizes will be sent to the winners within one month

Participants are responsible for ensuring that their submitted photographs do not infringe upon any copyright or violate any laws.
