Hanoi Explorer

The highlights of our Old Quarter day tours, at your own pace

With so much to see and do in Hanoi, it can feel overwhelming to capture it all on camera in a short time. Our Hanoi Explorer half-day photography tour provides an insider’s look at the Vietnamese capital while you venture through the Old Quarter and several vibrant markets with your guide.

You’ll start with a sunrise visit to the lesser-known ‘train street’, just in time to catch the Reunification Express squeezing between houses on its way south. We’ll then come across a local street market, offering us a chance to capture images of daily Hanoi life as the city wakes. Next stop is Long Bien Bridge, already busy with commuters and traders, and we’ll capture shots of the vibrant market below. In the market itself, we’ll have a chance to mingle with the locals as they do a fast trade in fruit, fresh meat and other necessities sourced from all over Vietnam.

We then head across the dyke road and into the Old Quarter, navigating ancient trading streets just as busy with commerce as they have been over the centuries. Following the train line, we end in the heart of the Old Quarter with a traditional Hanoi coffee and a review of our images from the morning.

The tour is suitable for both beginner and serious photographers, and we will tailor the photography program to your interests.

What to Expect from our Hanoi Explorer Photography Tour

On our Hanoi Explorer tour you’ll be guided through some of the capital’s most exciting markets and backstreets. Our professional photographer guides will provide technical and composition insights,  helping you to develop your camera skills. While we recommend joining the tour in the early morning, from 5:30-9:30am, we can tailor the timing to your schedule.

Expect to come away with plenty of fantastic pictures capturing the ‘real Hanoi’ for your portfolio.

I had visited Hanoi several times for work, but after the early morning tour with Mr Mansour I now experience the city completely differently. Mansour is a skilled and enthusiastic photo guide who clearly loves both this city and this amazing country. My shots of the textiles warehouse are some of the best travel photos I've taken for some time. Mansour - I owe you one!
Worth getting up at 4am for

I took many many fantastic photographs during the tour. But beyond the great locations, my discussions with Mansour really impacted the way I approach taking photos. How I look at composition, lighting, and mostly, the story-or message- that I want to convey in the image or images. I came away from the tour more excited and inspired about photography than ever. Thank you Vietnam in Focus!
A Hanoi Highlight!@dhow97

An early start but that meant I managed to take photos I would never have achieved otherwise. Boris was a great guide and gave me lots of tips (and confidence!) for taking candid photos. I was really pleased with the results and learned a lot about Hanoi. One tip - if you can, do this tour early on in your trip to Hanoi - you'll then have more chance to re-visit locations and put your new found knowledge to practice!
