Discover, Create, and have fun this Winter Break

While schools are closed and parents are busy at work, young people in Hanoi have a unique opportunity to spend their winter break exploring new passions, building confidence, and making friends. The Creative Arts Winter Camp offers a fun, inspiring environment where students aged 13–18 can develop creative skills in Photography, Art and Filmmaking.

Led in English by the expert team at Vietnam in Focus, each course blends hands-on learning with real creative projects, helping students express themselves and improve their communication skills.

  • Beginners and intermediate learners — no previous experience required

Camp Structure

Dates: December 26 – January 3 (7 participation days, January 1 off)
Location: Vietnam in Focus HQ, central Hanoi, and River Cafe, Long Bien
Schedule: Monday–Saturday
Sessions: Morning (8:30–11:30 AM) | Afternoon (2:00–5:00 PM)

Students can register for one or two courses. Each is designed to inspire creativity, teamwork, and self-expression through practical, engaging projects.

Courses

Photography – Learn to use a camera, frame compelling shots, and tell visual stories through your images.
Art – Explore drawing, painting, and mixed media techniques while developing your own creative voice.
Filmmaking – Discover the basics of camera work, storyboarding, and editing to create your own short film.

Creative Arts Winter Camp – Hanoi

Tina Gibson

Tina Gibson is an art historian and creative educator with over fifteen years of experience teaching in international schools and leading workshops across Europe and Asia. Trained in Creativity Education at the Faber-Castell Academy and in Art History in the UK, she blends cultural context, technique, and playful experimentation to help young people discover their own creative voice. Her lively, hands-on sessions encourage curiosity, confidence, and problem-solving, turning mistakes into new ideas and showing students that creativity is a language everyone can learn.

Vietnam in Focus Photographer Hoang Viet Nguyen

Hoang Viet

Hoang Viet is an award-winning Hanoi-born photojournalist and independent film director whose work has appeared in leading Vietnamese publications and been exhibited at renowned art spaces such as Manzi, Workroom Four, Institut Français L’Espace, and the Goethe Institut. A two-time national photojournalism award recipient, he has also collaborated with international NGOs on film and creative projects. As a photo tour leader for Vietnam in Focus, he specializes in visual storytelling, documentary and street photography, and photo editing, drawing on deep insight gained from working across Vietnam’s diverse regions.

Brian Ng ViF Photographer Guide

Brian Ng

Originally from New York City, Brian Ng is a Hanoi-based photographer and videographer with a focus on lifestyle portraiture, emotional storytelling, and travel photography using both camera and drone. His commercial work spans celebrity and international clients, and since 2022 he has led highly praised photo tours and workshops across Hanoi and northern Vietnam. Known for his warm rapport with locals and his ability to guide students toward meaningful, story-driven images, Brian views photography as a way to explore the world and capture the feeling behind each moment.
Photographer Tung Vu

Tung Vu

Born in Vietnam and raised in Germany, Tung Vu brings a cross-cultural perspective to his photography, shaped by his Communication Design studies in Hamburg and extensive travels throughout Europe and Southeast Asia. Now based in Hanoi, he creates authentic visual narratives of everyday Vietnamese life while producing commercial work for agencies and businesses. Fluent in German, English, and Vietnamese, Tung connects easily with both local and international audiences, offering technical expertise, cultural insight, and an enthusiastic, friendly approach that enriches every photographic learning experience.

For full-day participants, lunch can be arranged separately. Parents will receive details before the camp begins.
