Originally from the UK, Alex has been exploring the highways and byways of Vietnam since his arrival in Hanoi 18 years ago. He co-founded Vietnam in Focus in 2012, with the aim of helping fellow photography and adventure-lovers experience the best of his adoptive home.
Alex has participated in media productions such as the Vietnam episode of the Travel Channel show Tough Trains. He regularly contributes to both local and international discussions on tourism trends in Vietnam, with recent interviews in Time Magazine and VN Express.
An award-winning writer, Alex’s work has featured in numerous publications, including The New York Times. In 2013, he edited Survivors of Trafficking in their Own Words, a book created in partnership with the NGO Peace House Shelter. He also collaborated on Fokion Zissiadis’s photography book Vietnam (Rizzoli, 2020), the culmination of two epic trips with Vietnam in Focus. He is a contributing writer and photographer at Lonely Planet.
